More voices join together to speak out against violence against women

DELTA (NEWS 1130) – One in three women will face violence in her lifetime.

This weekend, people are putting on an annual event in coordination with millions of others hoping to make a difference worldwide.

Helping marginalized women is the focus of this year’s One-Billion-Rising event. Given Aboriginal women are statistically more likely to face violence is particularly relevant for our country.

“What we want, is the whole globe to be united against domestic violence and to speak up and to say that enough is enough.”

Dr. Balbir Gurm who helped organize the event wants the numbers to change.
