Robert Pickton’s book no longer available on Amazon

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Robert Pickton’s self published book is being pulled from Amazon’s website following a public outcry.

The province also has plans to ensure something like this doesn’t happen again.

Next on the to-do list for Solicitor General Mike Morris is looking into how Pickton got his book outside of his prison to the publisher in the first place, but it’s uncertain what if anything he can do to stop transactions already rubber stamped by Amazon for the book published by a Colorado-based company.

“We’re looking at all avenues,” says Morris. “I’m not going to speculate on what we can do in the United States, but we’re certainly looking at all the opportunities available to us.”

Beyond that, Premier Christy Clark says she’s considering legally banning convicts from making money by writing about their crimes.

“We’re looking at their legislation to see how much of it we can just copy and apply,” says Clark, referencing the fact other provinces have similar laws already in place. “Each of those provinces, it’s my understanding, brought in that legislation in a situation…. similar to this.”

Ontario is one such province which prohibits criminals cashing in by writing about their offenses.
