BC’s energy minister ‘mortified’ he dropped an F-bomb in the legislature

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The energy minister says he’s mortified by his use of the F-word in the BC legislature, pledging it will never happen again.

Minister Bill Bennett‘s use of the F-word and a subsequent use of that word by NDP MLA Norm Macdonald prompted speaker of the legislature Linda Reid to describe the conduct of the house as “appalling.”

Other members then had to separate the two after a confrontation in the hallway, according to reports.

Now a day later, Bennett is accepting responsibility in a frank way.

“I’m just mortified, disappointed with myself. I can tell you it will never happen again. I have nobody to blame for this but myself,” he tells us.

Bennett adds he understands he’s supposed to set an example, and is grateful no children were in the gallery when the exchange took place.
