Some of the best April Fool’s Day pranks

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Have you ever fallen for the old cellophane over the toilet bowl trick? Or chomped down on a donut filled with mayo instead of custard?

As we mark April Fool’s Day, we’re taking a look at some of the most legendary pranks ever pulled.

One of the most memorable was the BBC’s 1957 broadcast of the annual spaghetti harvest in Italy.

Burger King also made headlines with the launch of the Left Handed Whopper back in 1998, it was just like a regular one but with the condiments rotated 180 degrees.

In 1977, the Guardian newspaper’s travel section featured the tiny tropical republic of San Serriffe, described as “a small archipelago roughly shaped like a semicolon” and its main islands were Upper Caisse and Lower Caisse.

But nothing beats the stunt pulled by Porky Bicker in Alaska 42 years ago when he lit a mountain of tires on fire in a dormant volcano. Thankfully he also painted ‘April Fool’ in 50 foot letters around the crater.

Remember, you have only until noon to try and fool someone on April Fool’s Day.
