Massive new development proposed for Whistler Blackcomb

WHISTLER (NEWS 1130) – It’s being billed as the most exciting and transformational development in Whistler Blackcomb‘s history. One of the companies that owns the village is hoping to move ahead with a $345 million project.

A promotional video claims it would not only improve the skiing, biking, and sightseeing you can already do, but also bring more year-round activities to the village

The first phase of the Renaissance project would cost up to $100 million and include a year-round indoor water-based play area at Blackcomb’s upper base and a new adventure park and a sports complex are just a few other parts of it.

The resort would also get a new high-speed lift to connect Blackcomb’s upper and lower bases.

But before any construction can begin, the provincial government has to approve and local First Nations have to be consulted.

An open house on the development is being held in Whistler on Monday evening.
