VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Charges have been laid against two men in a break and enter case and possible sexual assault at UBC yesterday.
Twenty-seven-year-old David Singh Tucker is charged with break and enter, sexual assault causing bodily harm and forcible confinement. Meanwhile 23-year-old Yuan Zhi Gao is charged with break and enter to commit robbery.
University RCMP were looking to see if this case was related to a series of prowler incidents earlier this year, we have yet to hear back from them for an update.
Campus security issued an alert after news of this latest assault.
Director of UBC campus security, Barry Eccleton says they are asking people to be cautious.
“Keeping doors locked, not leaving doors ajar at all. Just really basic things, but still important measures that we all need to be reminded of,” says Eccleton. “Sexual assault is such a nasty incident that does happen on campuses unfortunately. We are just asking people to look out for one another, be aware of their surroundings and report anything suspicious.”
