Whitecaps feeling Ottawa’s fury ahead of tonight’s Canadian Championship semifinal

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The Whitecaps will be trying to punch their ticket to the Amway Canadian Championship final with a win tonight. Vancouver will need a big victory in order to avoid the upset at the hands of the second-tier Ottawa Fury. Ottawa topped the Caps in leg one 2-0 last week in the nations capitol, so Vancouver will have to score at least two goals to have a chance.

Keeper Paolo Tornaghi says his team needs to find a way to score.

“We have 90-minutes to score two goals. We will not be in a rush to score early on. We have the entire game, we will be patient and we will try to find the right moment to get the goals.”

The Caps appeared to be caught off guard by the quick start of Ottawa last week. Defender Jordan Harvey says they knew the Fury were a good team and they have to come better prepared tonight.

“We knew they had quality. Everyone talks about them being a lower division team, but they have guys that have played all over in different leagues. We didn’t look at it like that. They have some good players and it showed and now we have to make up some ground.”

After fielding a younger roster for leg one, Coach Carl Robinson is expected to turn to his veterans this evening. The team has added Pedro Morales, Matias Laba and David Ousted to their Canadian Championship roster.

Kick off at BC Place is at 7 p.m.

On the other side of the draw, the Montreal Impact face Toronto FC at home after dropping leg one 4-2 in Ontario.
