LANGLEY (NEWS 1130) – For the second time in just under two weeks, there’s been another dog attack. This time at a park in Langley.
One dog is dead, while a man is claiming self-defense as he was walking his own.
Mounties say an off leash Cane Corso, a type of Mastiff, ran up to the man and his lab and that’s when the Cane Corso started to attack.
Sergeant Alexandra Mulvihill says the man tried to break up the fight.
“As a result of trying to save his own dog, his own dog was bit twice, the other dog has died,” she says. “He tried to hold it down while he waited for assistance, for somebody else on the path to come. Unfortunately, by the time and was able to render him assistance, the other dog was deceased.”
Mulvihill says the lab was bitten on the shoulder and neck, but there’s no word on the extent of the man’s injuries.
This comes as The Union of BC Municipalities will vote on a dangerous dog registry bylaw at its meeting next month.
