Football is the most popular sporting bet in the province: BCLC

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – With the NFL now back on the field – maybe it’s time to re-think Canada as a hockey country. Football has now become the most popular sports bet for British Columbians.
Last year $1.1 million bets were made on the NFL in BC through the BC Lottery Corporation, with $14.6-million changing hands
Doug Cheng with BCLC says the Seahawks are their most popular bet so far. “Last year in BC we had the most wagers on the Seahawks to win the Super Bowl last season and heading into this season once again the Seahawks are getting the most action on that wager.”
“I think it’s just due to the popularity of the NFL and obviously having the Seahawks so close to our market and them being such a successful team has something to do with that as well.”
But Cheng adds the team with the best odds on PlayNow.com to start the year has never gone on to win the Super Bowl.
In BC, the Seahawks have 8-1 odds to lift the Lombardi Trophy – followed by the Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots.
