Canada’s only Lego Certified Professional to recreate Vancouver’s Digital Orca

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Vancouver’s Digital Orca is getting a baby, of sorts.

Canada’s only Lego Certified Professional is replicating the iconic statue.

It’s all for the Lego Imagine Nation Tour this weekend. Abbotsford’s Robin Sather says he’s recreating the Digital Orca, with about 5,000 Duplo Lego bricks.

“It kind of looks like a Lego creation as it is,” says Sather, who adds his replica be about a third of the size of the original piece.

“If you think of maybe, about a three-month-old orca calf, it’ll be about that size… a little over two metres.”

He expects the project to take most of the weekend, but he guesses it will be done by Sunday morning. After the convention, the little orca will be deconstructed and Sather will begin his next project.

Sather says there will be a number of other lego creations at the convention centre for the event, including Darth Vader and Spiderman. And you’ll also have an opportunity to get building lessons from another lego pro.
