Two small planes crash around Boundary Bay

DELTA (NEWS 1130) — A pilot is OK after a Cessna 172 ended up off the side of the runway at Boundary Bay Airport.

Bill Yearwood with the Transportation Safety Board says a call came in Sunday afternoon.

“My understanding is the aircraft ran off the side of the runway with one pilot and he’s OK and they’re just going to tow it back to the hanger and he’ll give us a call Monday and let us know what happened.”

At this point it is unclear if the pilot was taking off or landing.

A second plane crash was reported around 2:15 p.m. across Boundary Bay, in the waters off Crescent Beach.

The pilot and passenger of the Ultralite plane were not hurt.

It is not known why it went down in the water.
