Canucks look to end road trip on a high note in Colorado

DENVER, CO (NEWS 1130) – A three game road trip comes to a close for the Vancouver Canucks in Denver on Saturday night against the Colorado Avalanche. (7pm, CBC)

It’s a back to back situation for Vancouver, as the Canucks are trying to find some more finish offensively following a 2-1 loss to the Dallas Stars on Friday.

Jacob Markstrom will start in goal for the Canucks, while it’s hard to say if there will be any other major lineup changes. The Canucks did send defenseman Alex Biega down to the Utica Comets on Saturday, where he slotted into the lineup for a game against the Toronto Marlies.

The Comets had a four game winning streak come to an end with a 4-1 loss in Toronto.

On the Colorado side, the Avalanche sit last in the Central division. The team will be without captain Gabriel Landeskog for the fifth straight game. Landeskog is still day to day with a lower body injury.

Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar provided an update on Landeskog Saturday morning.

“We’re just going to take it day by day and see how (Landeskog) feels until he’s ready to go.” Bednar said.

“He skated the last two days, and joined the team for practice the other day, and (Saturday) he’s feeling it a little bit.”

It’s the first of three meetings this season between the Canucks and Avalanche. Vancouver took two of three from Colorado last season.

The Canucks will try to take four of a possible six points back to Rogers Arena, where they will next host the Minnesota Wild on November 29th.
