Manulife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC). Financial Services. Up 67 cents, or 2.83 per cent, to $24.36 on 7.6 million shares.

ProMetic Life Sciences Inc. (TSX:PLI). Biotechnology. Down 17 cents, or 8.17 per cent, to $1.91 on 7.1 million shares.

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Down eight cents, or 1.97 per cent, to $3.99 on 5.8 million shares.

Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Up 46 cents, or 2.80 per cent, to $16.90 on 5.2 million shares.

Baytex Energy Corp. (TSX:BTE). Oil and gas. Up 10 cents, or 1.61 per cent, to $6.30 on five million shares.

Lundin Mining Corp. (TSX:LUN). Miner. Down one cent, or 0.14 per cent, to $6.99 on 4.8 million shares.

Cenovus Energy Inc. (TSX:CVE). Oil and gas. Down six cents, or 0.29 per cent, to $20.48 on two million shares. Cenovus Energy is going ahead with an expansion of its Christina Lake oilsands project, making it the second oilsands development in as many months to be reactivated after being shelved due to the downturn in oil prices two years ago. The announcement came as the Calgary-based oil producer said it was planning to invest between $1.2 billion and $1.4 billion next year, up 24 per cent from this year, and increase oil production by about 14 per cent to approximately 230,000 barrels per day.

SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. (TSX:SNC). Engineering. Down $1.40, or 2.46 per cent, to $55.54 on 348,433 shares. Engineering giant SNC-Lavalin is cutting another 405 jobs in Canada due to the weakness in the mining sector and ongoing efforts to boost its profit margin. Spokesman Louis-Antoine Paquin says the company will eliminate 186 positions in Montreal, 195 in Ontario and 24 in Saskatoon.
