Car wrap text scam prompts warning from Chilliwack RCMP

CHILLIWACK (NEWS 1130) — RCMP are once again warning of a car wrap texting scam hitting people in the Lower Mainland.
The scammers send you a text offering a few hundred dollars to wrap your car in advertising.
Chilliwack RCMP are warning you not to buy in to it.
Mounties say the scammers will send you a bogus check to cover the costs of wrapping your car but by the time you find out it has bounced, you could be out a couple thousand dollars.
RCMP say if you have responded to the text, stop correspondence, but keep records of everything and report it to police.
“What to do if you suspect you have been a vicitim of this scam
- Do not respond further to the text message or email (block / report if the option is available)
- Keep copies of everything (text messages, emails, cheques, letters, etc.) and call RCMP
