Missing mail service and uncleared Vancouver sidewalks

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — A few days are understandable but this is a bit “crazy” for one local woman.

Gloria says her business in Kitsilano hasn’t had mail delivery for two weeks and winter walkways are getting the blame.

“December 27th was the last day we got mail.”

Gloria says when her office contacted Canada Post, they were told snowy and icy sidewalks in the area were at fault, even though the route to her building was clear.

“There’s been so many sidewalks not being shoveled that they decided not to do the mail. The post office manager said that they were really sorry, they’re really backed up.”

Gloria says she was directed to pick up a large stack of missed deliveries at a Canada Post depot.

“I was driving to work again and I was looking down the streets and there are a ton of sidewalks [not cleared]. Maybe people aren’t living in their homes because why wouldn’t they shovel their snow?”

Other people are also reporting missed mail deliveries or difficulties during this unusually cold and snowy winter.
