Massive snow dump breaks records

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Snowfall records have been falling all over Metro Vancouver these past few days, some of which have stood for 50 or 60 years.

Lisa West at Environment Canada says Vancouver broke a record on Friday.

“We got 12 centimetres of snow measured here in a 24-hour period. The last record was set back in 1946 for 10.7 centimetres,” says West.

“On Saturday, in Abbotsford, we had 20 centimetres in a 24-hour period fall and the last record was set in 1957 with 7.6 centimetres. So some pretty good records being set in the last two days.”

Powell River more than doubled its record snowfall for February 3rd with 28 centimetres of snow.
