Prepare for more snow delays says TransLink

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – TransLink is warning of the potential for dozens of delays for transit users again this morning.

Snow filled and icy streets mean that you will likely be waiting for a while if you are taking a bus.

Anne Drennan with TransLink says unfortunately, that is just the reality of what happens when we get this kind of snowfall.

“People just have to know that when there is heavy snow here — and for us, this is heavy, although in other areas it isn’t, particularly — there will be delays,” says Drennan.

“We’re talking many multi-tonne vehicles out there on roads where there’s ice, there’s snow, and there are other vehicles who aren’t comfortable driving in these conditions. So there will be delays. People need to expect it.”

She says there won’t be nearly as many of the accordion-style buses out on the roads because they have more problems on hills.

HandyDART is running only running essential service. Drennan says you should check out TransLink dot ca before you head out.
