TransLink working to prevent ice-related rail problems on the Canada Line

By

RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) – TransLink is doing what it can to make sure tomorrow’s Canada Line commute is better than what we saw last night.

The train bridge between Vancouver and Richmond was shut down because of ice on the power rail.

“We did our best to get buses out there but with the snowy weather impacting buses significantly, too, unfortunately, we just didn’t have a lot of good options as far as getting that extra service there to help people move,” says Chris Bryan with TransLink.

He says making sure this doesn’t happen again tomorrow is the top priority.

“It was unacceptable for our customers and we’ve definitely apologized to them for that impact on them yesterday and Friday.”

He says they had been using deicer but a train got stuck and that’s why the bus bridge was set up.
