Crews respond after man falls at Coquitlam’s Crystal Falls

COQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) – A man has minor injuries after falling 9 metres at Crystal Falls in Coquitlam just about 4 p.m.

Initial reports were of a child falling, but Coquitlam Fire and Rescue later said they responded to an incident involved an adult.

“It ended up being a 21-year-old male who fell about 40 feet down Crystal Falls,” says Coquitlam Deputy Fire Chief Rod Gill.

“All he really ended up with was just a laceration on his head. No spinal injuries, no back injuries, really lucky to be doing as well as he is. Minor injuries.”

It took crews a couple of hours to get in and out of the falls to assist the man. He was taken to hospital.

The RCMP and Coquitlam Search and Rescue were not called in to help.
