Man ‘high on crystal meth’ causes SkyTrain delays, damage

NEW WESTMINSTER (NEWS 1130) – The 57-year-old man responsible for SkyTrain delays in New Westminster during Monday’s rush hour won’t spend any time in jail, despite causing $300,000 worth of damage.
Clayton Morris Lambert had to be removed from the tracks at Columbia Station after damaging TransLink equipment.
Anne Drennan with Transit Police says investigators initially believed he was suicidal, but that wasn’t the case.
“He was high when he committed this offence, we believe on crystal meth. And he had an amount of a drug on his person when he was arrested that we believe was crystal meth.”
Drennan says the man –who’s originally from Alberta and has an extensive criminal record–pleaded guilty on Tuesday afternoon to one count of mischief.
He’s been sentenced to one year probation, but it’s conditional. He has to stay away from bridges and ‘make all reasonable attempts’ to stay away from drugs and alcohol.
