RCMP searching for tree thief in Langley

LANGLEY (NEWS 1130) – Be careful who you buy your landscaping and garden supplies from.

That advice comes from Cedar Rim Nursery owner Russ Bruce after several expensive trees were stolen from his business on June 10th and 19th.

“There’s kind of a building boom going on,” he says. “All the reputable people are extremely busy, so there are a lot more people on the fringes who are doing landscaping for people.”

Langley RCMP describe the suspected thief as a white male with a blue hoodie, dark baseball hat, sunglasses and gardening gloves. The thief hoisted the trees into the back of a truck, sometimes in broad daylight just after the store closed.

The stolen trees are worth between $1,000 and $2,000.

Bruce says to be careful where you get your landscaping supplies from, especially if you buy on sites like Craigslist or Kijiji, because sometimes the deal is too good to be legitimate.
