BC SPCA looking for owner of emaciated dog hit by a truck in Mission

MISSION (NEWS 1130) – The BC SPCA is asking you for help identifying the owner of a neglected dog that was hit by a truck last week.

The Tibetan mastiff was hit on Dewdney Trunk Road in Mission last week, near the regional garbage dump. A witness to the accident stopped to check on the dog and rushed him to the vet.

Eileen Drever with the BC SPCA says the animal was extremely thin, scoring a 1.5 on a “body conditioning scale” of 1 to 9.

“”A dog of his breed should weigh 60 kilograms but this dog weighs only 35,” explains Drever. “He was also suffering from other signs of neglect, including ear and skin infections and lesions.”

The dog is now staying at the SPCA’s Maple Riege branch.

Drever says the dog may have been wandering for some time, or there may be another reason he was found in such bad shape.

If you have any information that could help the BC SPCA, you’re asked to call 1-855-622-7722.
