Hatchet attack outside Surrey mall

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Mounties south of the Fraser River say there was an assault involving a hatchet outside Surrey Central Mall over the noon hour.

RCMP say multiple units responded to the area around City Parkway and 102nd Avenue at about 12:45 p.m. When they arrived, they found both the 34-year-old suspect and the 50-year-old victim. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody, while the victim was taken to the hospital with some injuries that aren’t considered serious.

The two know each other, according to investigators.

The motive is unclear and it’s unknown what charges, if any, may be recommended.
