Investigation ‘brewing’ after thousands of cases of Coors Light stolen in Delta

DELTA (NEWS 1130) – If someone offers you a beer out of the trunk of a car, you might want to call Delta Police.

A trucking company is now searching for more than 2,500 cases of Coors Light beer after a trailer was stolen off a property on Aldford Avenue last Saturday.

“Surveillance footage shows a red semi-truck enter the lot, and hook up to the trailer containing the beer at approximately 11:45 January 20,” says Cris Leykauf, public affairs coordinator for Delta Police. “Based on the company’s GPS tracking systems, we know the trailer was then driven to the 8000 block of Blundell Road in Richmond, approximately half an hour later.”

The frothy goods were reported stolen after the trailer was found empty the next day.

“It definitely is an unusual theft, it’s a large amount of beer to be stolen, definitely,” Leykauf tells NEWS 1130.

The 2,592 missing cases are estimated at a value of around $155,000.

So do police think there’s a chance they’ll find any of the stolen ale? “We’re always hopeful,” she says, laughing.

And that’s why they’re looking for your help.

“We’re asking that anyone who may have seen some noteworthy activity, or perhaps is aware of some odd circumstances around the sale of beer to contact Delta Police at 604-946-4411.”

If you have any information, be sure to give the DPD a call. If you want to remain anonymous, you can always get in touch with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or texting “BCTIP” to Crimestoppers at 274637.
