Unsung Hero: Local senior helps homeless, abused cats

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Congratulations to our latest Unsung Hero, Violet Winegarden. She was nominated for the award by Sandra Sarov.

Take a look at her story:

For over 30 years, Violet has opened her home for abused and homeless cats.

She has also helped dogs and humans and has also paid vet expenses for people who own animals but cannot afford to pay the vet bill. No animal is ever turned away and she is up very, very early every morning to attend to the cats.

She has some dedicated volunteers as well.

Violet, who is in her 80’s, is like a Saint to so many of us. We all love you, Violet!

Alpine Credits is acknowledging Violet with $500 to say thanks for stepping up and is also making a $1,000 donation to the Ronald McDonald House Children’s Charity.
