Unsung Hero: Local woman raises tens of thousands of dollars for homeless shelter

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Congratulations to our latest Unsung Hero, Donna Lawrence. She was nominated for the award by Hazel Breakey.

Take a look at her story:

Donna is a member of Saint John the Evangelist Anglican church in North Vancouver.

It was her idea to come up with a fundraiser called the “Long, long Night of Hope” to benefit the Lookout Homeless Shelter in North Vancouver. In the first year she raised $10,000 and her fundraising efforts so far this year are at $16,000.

Donna has worked tirelessly on this project and she deserves to be recognized as an Unsung Hero the North Shore.

Alpine Credits is acknowledging Donna with $500 to say thanks for stepping up and is also making a $1,000 donation to the Ronald McDonald House Children’s Charity.
