Low tide reveals stolen truck at Kits Beach

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A bizarre sight for people walking along the shore of Kits Beach on Thursday afternoon. Thanks to a low tide, a pick-up truck surfaced way out in the water.

Vancouver Police say they were called out just after 12:30 p.m. after someone in the area saw tire marks in the sand leading towards the water just near the basketball courts.

“Officers were able to determine the truck was unoccupied and had been reported stolen early this morning,” says Constable Jason Doucette.

The truck is described as a black 2005 Chevrolet Silverado.

The Coast Guard was brought in and the VPD also worked with the Vancouver Park Board to get the truck out of the water safely.

Anyone with information about the stolen truck or who may have seen it go into the water is asked to call police at 604.717.3321 or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.222.8477.
