Canadians are losing faith in Facebook: study

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Canadians don’t trust social media companies like they used to.

Facebook has fallen particularly hard according to Josh Cobden with Proof Inc.

In 2017, 51 per cent of people surveyed, trusted the company, this year that number has dropped 17 percentage points.

Canadian are also more skeptical of things like the Facebook news feed, trust in it was sitting at 31 per cent back in 2016 and is now at 18 per cent.

“So there continues to be a trust deficit in the validity of what Canadians see on social media feeds as well as the motives that they see among social media companies.”

But Cobden notes, around 76 per cent of Canadians still check their facebook page at least once a week.

“We may have grave concerns about how Facebook behaves as a company, but we still use it because it delivers the things we expect it to do.”
